I checked out a book at the library that has all of these lists and just random facts about alternative rock, so I might occasionally post some of the stuff I find particularly interesting.

Also, this book incorrectly says that the Jesus and Mary Chain were English. Sure they lived in London for most of their time as a band, but they were all born Scottish.
